Regeneration of former hospital under way
Charles Edward have begun the regeneration works to the former Runwell Hospital in Wickford, Essex. The regeneration of the former chapel building will enliven this structure for the 21st century, maintaining it’s historic features whilst bringing up to date services and provision for high spec living.
Opened in 1937 and finally closed in 2010 this hospital provided healthcare to the South Essex region, specialising in the care, treatment and research of mental health. Since it’s decommissioning in 2009 the site was earmarked to become a prison, but following a review the land was sold for development.
With 600 houses, St Luke’s Park will form a new village providing high quality new homes with excellent transport links and provision for new schools and businesses.
