Welcoming Steve Gayle – Technical Services Manager
We would like to welcome Steve Gayle to the Charles Edward family, joining us as a Technical Services Manager based out of our London offices. We caught up with Steve and ran a few of today’s most burning questions in technical services past him.
What’s more important the M or the E?!
Mechanical as I like the idea of not being the only thing in a building producing hot air.
What is the most challenging technical project you have worked on? And why?
BMW Central Offices, Farnborough – 20 year old systems, no reliable record information, international client with a worldwide reputation for the highest standard of engineering, 11nr comms rooms, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, limited time scale due to tenancy expiring in other location… scary stuff! But completed with the help of a all-round great project team.
Is there such a thing as a true MEP company or is a bias inevitable?
There are many well balanced “true MEP” companies, in fact we intend to make these types of companies the backbone of a strong CE supply chain.
What’s the greatest underestimation in the field of technical services?
The importance of a well sequenced and comprehensive commissioning process. The commissioning of systems has to be considered at the design stage, worked towards during construction and unrushed during the close out process.
What’s the coolest technical advancement you have seen/heard about recently in a build?
Close coupled in rack refrigeration… get it “coolest advancement”… in rack cooling… never mind!
What are the CE family like to be a part of?
It’s great, the office is filled with experienced people, with a mindset for both incremental and radical innovation.
You have a leaky tap at home, do you change it or call in a plumber?!
Call a plumber and then pretend I did it when the wife gets in.
Thanks for your time Steve, all the best in the new role!
