Welcoming Amy Beazley – Commercial Manager
The sustainable growth continues for CE, adding yet another ‘Construction Pioneer’ to our ranks for 2019! We caught up with our new Commercial Manager Amy Beazley who has been working on the commercial aspect of our highly successful ‘Plug + Play’ CAT B offering.
Welcome Amy! So first up, what led you to Charles Edward… how did you find out about us?
Well… I was supposed to interview with Zoe a few months ago but then both of our trains were delayed and so it just never happened. And then in November Zoe got back in touch with me to say CE were looking again and hey ho, what do you know, I interviewed early December and got the job!
We can’t believe its 2019 and we are already nearly into February. While it may seem a distant memory now, professionally – what was your biggest takeaway from 2018?
If I am honest, I think actually making the jump to going freelance, which has enabled me to work hard for four days and then spend one day being at home being a mum! I think a work/life balance is so important and so difficult to get right and so I am chuffed its all working out.
Working with people is a crucial part of a Commercial Manager’s role, and so what advice would you give a newbie to commercial for being successful at this?
Be yourself! Be open and friendly and don’t just talk to new people about work! If you enjoyed the conversation with them you can bet they did too!
You know numbers, but how important is it to have an understanding of the products and services we are delivering?
I’d say you have to be more methodical (and organised) rather than actually knowing the cost of everything off the top of your head. When buying a product or a service you have to get to know and understand the detail of what you are purchasing to ensure it meets all of the client’s requirements and of course comes in under budget.
And a few quick-fire questions:
You can live anywhere in the world, where would you choose? Hmmm… tricky one! I live for my family and friends so would have to be in the same area where I live now! I’ve been renovating a bungalow now for 6 months and move into that in March so if I could live anywhere in the world right now it would be there!
You are known for managing to burn jacket potatoes in the office (we only have a microwave?) – what meal are you known best for among friends and family?
This honestly doesn’t happen at home – I blame the microwave! I cook a mean roast dinner with slow cooked beef, honey roasted carrots & the best cauliflower cheese! That said I’m usually on a health kick so usually something out of Joe Wicks ‘Lean in 15’.
And lastly – describe yourself as a teenager in three words…
Never No Trouble 🙂
You have made a cracking start Amy and we wish you all the best in your role – welcome to the team!!
