Welcoming Mark Murray – Commercial Manager
We caught up with Mark Murray, the latest ‘Construction Pioneer’ to join the team, based in our London office. Read on to find out what Mark’s favourite colour Quality Street is…
Mark, welcome! Can you tell us a bit about how your journey to joining Charles Edward? And what do you think of the office so far? Be nice!
Having last year concluded the financial account for the first enabling package of the Network Rail new High Speed 2 link to Birmingham, I decided it was time to branch out on a different track (pardon the pun). And so by chance I found my way to Charles Edward. So far the office has been great and its nice to work with like-minded Individuals.
With Brexit on the horizon, many are predicting a downturn – however it seems that there is a lot of pricing going on at the moment! Can you see things slowing down any time soon?
No I don’t see a slow down immediately although certain areas of the industry may slow, such as high end residential. This I feel would be more likely due to supply out-stripping demand. I think it’s easy to blame Brexit for any negativity in the economy, which would usually just be a natural by-product of free market enterprise.
Shared office spaces are becoming more and more popular, not just with startups but as overflows for established companies. Do you think this trend will continue?
I do see this continuing for a while. Many companies seem to have learnt from the last recession. When expanding they are looking to avoid being saddled with huge overhead costs on long leases for space they may not require in the future. Flexible working spaces offer reasonable rates on flexible agreements, allowing companies to react efficiently with any change or uncertainty in economic forecasts.
The London skyline has changed so much in the past few decades – what’s your favourite new addition?
I think the London Eye was a great idea for attracting tourists, its success has been copied all over the world.
What is your favourite package to price?!
And a few quick fire questions:
Bungee jump or sky dive? You have to do one.
Describe the Charles Edward office in one word…
Last year CE played in a few charity 5-a-side football competitions – are you a future star in waiting? Or will you cheer with a beer?
Knees are shot therefore; Cheer with a beer or goalkeeper (with beer).
Lastly, whats your favourite colour Quality Street (we won’t judge… unless its orange cream)
The green long ones.
Thanks for your time Mark, all the best in the new role!
